Dutching Calculator
Split a total stake across multiple selections with a free dutching calculator. Compare rounded stakes, payouts and net profit for partial or complete coverage.
Enter mutually exclusive selections from the same event: only one can win. Set your total budget and odds to balance the return if one of your chosen selections wins.
Use 2 to 12 selections. Budget: up to $1 billion in whole cents, with at least $0.01 per selection. Changing a selection’s odds format clears its price.
Partial coverage: if an unselected outcome wins, every selected bet loses and the full budget is lost. The covered payout range does not protect against that outcome.
Every budget cent is allocated. Stakes use largest-remainder rounding; individual payouts are rounded down to whole cents. The displayed returns may differ slightly.
| Selection | Stake | Payout (stake included) | Net after all stakes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Selection 1 | $44.45 | $133.35 | $33.35 |
| Selection 2 | $33.33 | $133.32 | $33.32 |
| Selection 3 | $22.22 | $133.32 | $33.32 |
For mutually exclusive win-only bets at fixed odds. Fees, commissions, taxes, dead heats, voids, each-way bets, stake limits and overlapping outcomes are not modeled. Prices and operator rules may change.
How to use the dutching calculator
- Enter the TOTAL budget and the odds for two to twelve mutually exclusive selections. You can mix American, decimal and fractional odds.
- State whether you included every possible outcome. Leave partial coverage selected when another result could win.
- Read the stake for each selection and compare its payout with the full budget. Check the minimum net and the uncovered-outcome loss before interpreting the result.
Example: a $100 budget at decimal odds 3.00, 4.00 and 6.00 is split into $44.45, $33.33 and $22.22. If one selected outcome wins, payouts range from $133.32 to $133.35 and net profit from $33.32 to $33.35. If another outcome wins, the full $100 is lost.

How are dutching stakes calculated?
The ideal stake for selection i is total budget × (1 / decimal odds i) / the sum of all selected inverse odds. This targets equal gross payouts before rounding. The calculator then allocates whole cents and shows the actual payout and net result for every selection.
Why are the payouts not exactly equal?
Each stake must be a whole number of cents. We first round each ideal allocation down, then give remaining cents to the largest fractional remainders, with ties resolved in selection order. Each payout is rounded down independently. This spends exactly the entered budget but can produce different payouts.
Does dutching guarantee a profit?
No. Covering only some results leaves the full budget exposed if another outcome wins. Even complete coverage can lose money when the odds or cent rounding are unfavorable. The model also excludes fees and special settlement rules; positive covered returns are not a profit guarantee.
How is dutching different from arbitrage?
Dutching balances stakes across chosen, mutually exclusive outcomes and can cover only part of an event. An arbitrage calculation requires complete coverage and prices that support a positive result after costs. This calculator shows the allocation and coverage assumptions; it does not find live opportunities.
