Hedge Calculator
Calculate the hedge bet stake for two opposite outcomes. Enter your original bet and the opposing odds to compare your net result on either side.
Enter your original stake and odds, then the odds on the opposite outcome. The calculator balances both results before rounding the hedge stake to cents.
American: +300 or -150. Decimal: 4.0. Fractional: 3/1. You can mix formats. Changing a format clears its price.
The hedge stake is rounded to the nearest cent. Both net results use that displayed stake, so they can differ slightly. Hedging exchanges some upside for a more balanced result.
Assumes two mutually exclusive outcomes with exactly one winning bet, matching settlement terms and stakes returned on wins. Excludes fees, taxes, draws, pushes, voids, free bets and exchange lay liability. A parlay can use this model only when its other legs have already won.
How to use the hedge betting calculator
- Enter the original stake and the odds accepted on your original bet.
- Enter the available price for the opposite outcome. Confirm the two bets cover every possible result under the same settlement rules.
- Compare the calculated hedge stake, total cash committed and net result on each side. Check the actual price, limits and costs before placing anything.
Example: $100 at +300 (4.0 decimal), with the opposite outcome at -150 (2/3 fractional), gives a $240 hedge. Either modeled win returns $400 against $340 total staked, leaving $60 net before fees and taxes.

How is the hedge stake calculated?
Multiply the original stake by its decimal odds, then divide by the opposing decimal odds. Net if the original wins is its payout minus both stakes. Net if the hedge wins is the hedge payout minus both stakes. The displayed hedge is rounded to cents and both net results use that amount.
Does hedging always lock in a profit?
No. The prices may balance the two outcomes at a loss. This calculator shows signed net results and excludes added costs. Even matching prices require both bets to be accepted and settle on the same terms.
Can I hedge a parlay with this calculator?
Only when all earlier legs have won and the remaining exposure has exactly two opposite outcomes. Use the original parlay stake and its full combined odds, then the opposing price for the final outcome. An unsettled multi-leg parlay or a three-way market needs a different model.
Does it include fees, cash-outs or lay bets?
No. This models two standard back bets with stake returned on a win. Fees, commissions, promotions, cash-outs, exchange lay liability, draws, pushes and voids can change the results and require separate treatment.
