Fanatics Markets vs DraftKings Predictions: 2026 Comparison

Fanatics Markets vs DraftKings Predictions comparison of order routes, fees, states and alternatives
28

Fanatics Markets and DraftKings Predictions both turn sports and real-world events into tradable Yes/No contracts. Both use familiar consumer brands, support combo-style trades and operate through regulated derivatives entities. They are not interchangeable, and neither should be evaluated as if it were simply another tab in a sportsbook.

The differences become clear when you compare the actual account agreement, listing venue, fee schedule, age requirement, state access, funding method and order execution. Fanatics currently combines a public futures commission merchant, a documented introducing-broker pathway, a technology layer and contracts offered through Crypto.com Derivatives North America. DraftKings currently presents DraftKings Predictions as a futures commission merchant and can route contracts to its affiliated DKeX/Railbird exchange or another supported venue.

Our verdict: DraftKings Predictions is the stronger general choice for eligible users who want a broader visible catalog, a public 18+ starting point where permitted, slippage controls and an affiliated exchange. Fanatics Markets is more compelling for eligible 21+ users in its supported jurisdictions who value FanCash, live sports discovery, several funding rails, a detailed price-dependent fee table and combo request-for-quote pricing. Neither platform is the universal fee or liquidity winner. The exact contract, price, quantity, venue and funding method decide that comparison.

Editorial disclosure: Macro Markets publishes this comparison and operates a prediction-market platform. We include Macro Markets as a disclosed crypto-native alternative and apply the same comparison criteria. We do not present Macro Markets as a CFTC-designated US exchange. This is a documentation-based comparison; we did not open, fund and place matched test trades at Fanatics and DraftKings for this article. Event contracts can lose the full amount committed. Fanatics Markets vs DraftKings Predictions: Quick Verdict

Choose DraftKings Predictions when catalog breadth, an 18+ public eligibility baseline where allowed, a separate Predictions wallet and the DKeX relationship matter most. Choose Fanatics Markets when you are 21 or older, live in one of its supported jurisdictions and value FanCash, its current funding options, transparent FCM fee table and RFQ-based combos.

That verdict is conditional. A customer who can access only one platform has no practical choice. A customer who can access both should compare the same or closest contract at the same moment. Similar market titles can use different venues, prices, liquidity and settlement sources.

Winner by use case

  • Best for the broadest default shortlist: DraftKings Predictions.
  • Best for FanCash and a Fanatics-centered sports experience: Fanatics Markets.
  • Best for public fee-table detail: Fanatics Markets.
  • Best for eligible users under 21: DraftKings Predictions, where current terms and location permit.
  • Best for crypto-native funding and global discovery: Macro Markets, where eligible.
  • Best for a direct dedicated US exchange account: Neither automatically; compare a platform such as Kalshi.

Do not choose based on a temporary promotion. Bonus currency can expire, have qualifying-price limits or be nonwithdrawable. A one-time reward does not repair a wide spread, a costly funding method or a contract with unclear rules.

How Fanatics Markets and DraftKings Predictions Are Structured

The most important difference is not the color of the app. It is the route from the customer to the exchange and contract rules. A consumer brand can be the account provider, technology layer or corporate owner without being the venue that lists and settles every contract.

Fanatics: current FCM plus documented IB pathway

Fanatics' current public footer identifies Morton St. Trading Investments LLC d/b/a Fanatics Markets as a CFTC-registered futures commission merchant and NFA member. Its FCM customer agreement says the company can act as the customer's broker, hold funds within its regulated role and facilitate access to one or more designated contract markets.

Fanatics also maintains Fanatics Markets IB terms for Paragon Global Markets LLC d/b/a Fanatics Markets IB. Those terms describe an introducing broker that communicates orders to CDNA and does not create, execute, settle or administer the contracts. They also say the IB does not accept, hold or transfer trading funds.

Those two document sets should not be stacked together as if every customer necessarily uses both at once. The active customer agreement determines the current path. Fanatics' legal center documents a transition from direct or IB-mediated access toward the FCM account structure. A comparison that repeats only the older IB description can therefore be historically accurate but operationally incomplete.

Current Fanatics regulatory materials identify North American Derivatives Exchange Inc. d/b/a Crypto.com Derivatives North America, or CDNA, as the exchange and clearing venue behind the contracts. Fanatics Markets Tech supplies interface and wallet technology under the applicable terms. The result is one consumer experience with several legally distinct roles.

DraftKings: current FCM plus DKeX or partner venues

The current DraftKings Predictions product identifies DraftKings Predictions as a CFTC-registered futures commission merchant and NFA member. That is the present customer-facing role described in the footer.

DraftKings launched the product in December 2025 through a registered introducing broker. It also acquired Railbird Exchange LLC, a CFTC-designated contract market associated with the DKeX name. The CFTC record for Railbird Exchange documents the exchange designation.

Launch-era pages can still call DraftKings Predictions an IB, while current pages say FCM. The safest conclusion is not that one source must be false. The structure changed. Use the current account agreement and footer for the customer role, then inspect the order ticket for the exchange that lists the specific contract.

DraftKings' affiliated exchange can create a more vertically integrated path, but corporate affiliation does not make the FCM and exchange the same legal role. DKeX or a supported partner venue controls listing and settlement under its own rules.

Fanatics Markets and DraftKings Predictions route customer orders through different regulated entities and listing venues

Two routes, one rule: inspect the contract

The practical routing map is:

  1. Fanatics: customer → active Fanatics FCM or documented IB agreement → technology layer → CDNA contract and rules.
  2. DraftKings: customer → DraftKings Predictions FCM → DKeX/Railbird or supported exchange → contract and rules.

Both routes end at a contract specification. That document defines the official source, observation time, trading deadline, cancellation treatment and settlement outcome. A headline such as “Will Team A win?” is not the complete legal question.

The CFTC's explanation of FCMs and introducing brokers provides the general distinction. An FCM can accept orders and customer assets within its regulated role. An IB accepts or solicits orders without accepting customer money or property to support them.

Neither product is simply the sportsbook

Fanatics Markets and DraftKings Predictions can appear beside sportsbook features and share a brand identity. Event contracts remain derivatives products with exchange rules, tradable prices and defined settlement procedures.

DraftKings states that Predictions uses a separate wallet from Sportsbook. Funds must be moved or deposited into the Predictions wallet. Fanatics has unified more of its consumer app experience, but the Markets agreement, derivatives account and contract rules still determine the trade.

This distinction also affects responsible-use controls. A self-exclusion or restriction elsewhere in a brand ecosystem can carry into the predictions product. Read the current account controls before assuming that a new product tab creates a clean separation.

Our guide to prediction markets vs sports betting explains why a similar sports question can have different pricing, counterparty and legal structures.

Fees, Funding and Total Trading Cost

Fanatics publishes the clearer current public fee table. DraftKings can still be cheaper for a particular order, but the answer requires the current fee disclosure and order preview. A universal fee winner would be misleading.

Fanatics Markets fees

The current Fanatics Markets FCM fee disclosure, effective September 2, 2026, lists a Total Trading Fee from $0.00034 to $0.02 per contract for every contract bought or sold through the app.

The amount depends on contract price. It is generally highest near $0.50 and lower near $0.01 or $0.99. The pre-trade estimate can change if the order executes at a different price. Fanatics calculates the fee across the order and rounds it up to the next whole cent, which means a one-contract order can still have a $0.01 minimum.

At the published ceiling, buying 100 contracts can cost up to $2 in trading fees. Selling 100 contracts later can cost up to another $2. The maximum round-trip explicit trading fee would therefore be $4 before spread, slippage and funding costs. That is a ceiling example, not a claim that every 100-contract order costs $2 per side.

DraftKings Predictions fees

DraftKings' current site links to a signed-in or access-controlled fee disclosure. The live order ticket and that disclosure should be treated as the authoritative sources.

A publicly accessible DraftKings promotion-terms page states that DraftKings Predictions charges a $0.01 transaction fee for every event contract bought or sold and that the listing exchange charges a separate exchange fee. More recent promotional language says the total fee can include both broker and exchange commissions. Those public descriptions are not enough to declare one fixed rate for every venue and contract.

For a 100-contract example, a one-cent broker component would equal $1 on entry and another $1 on sale before any separate exchange component. If the live disclosure instead presents a combined tiered total, use that total rather than adding an exchange fee twice. Record the exact ticket before confirming the order.

This is a case where false precision is worse than a caveat. DraftKings can route to different venues, and its structure changed after launch. The current fee disclosure and final ticket supersede a screenshot or expired promotion article.

Side-by-side cost example

Assume each platform offers a similar Yes contract near $0.50 and the customer wants 100 contracts. Do not assume the contracts share rules or liquidity.

Cost component Fanatics Markets DraftKings Predictions
Contract value at $0.50 $50 $50
Entry trading fee Up to $2 under the current published ceiling Use current ticket; a public terms example describes a $1 broker component plus exchange fee
Sale fee for 100 contracts Up to another $2 Use current ticket and avoid double-counting a bundled fee
Spread Live market dependent Live market dependent
Slippage Quantity and depth dependent Quantity and slippage-setting dependent
Funding cost ACH free; selected instant methods up to 2% Depends on current Predictions funding flow and payment rail
Settlement fee Verify current exchange and contract schedule Verify current exchange and contract schedule

The complete equation is:

Net result = sale or settlement proceeds − contract cost − entry fee − exit fee − spread/slippage − funding and withdrawal cost

Use the prediction market fee calculator to compare the same price, quantity and cost assumptions. Our guide to bid-ask spreads explains why the spread can matter more than a one-cent commission difference.

Funding and wallets

Fanatics says ACH deposits are free. Debit card, Apple Pay, PayPal or Venmo deposits can cost up to 2%, with the charge disclosed before deposit. Fanatics does not list an additional fee for withdrawals to a payment method. Wire deposits below $1,000 and wire withdrawals below $10,000 are unavailable under the current schedule, while bank fees can still apply.

A 2% funding charge changes the comparison. Depositing $500 through a charged instant method can cost up to $10 before trading starts. That is more than many small differences in per-contract fees.

DraftKings Predictions uses a separate wallet from DraftKings Sportsbook. Do not assume a Sportsbook balance is immediately available for event contracts. Check deposit methods, hold periods, withdrawal eligibility and charges in the current Predictions flow.

For both products, complete a small deposit and withdrawal before committing a large balance. Payment convenience is part of total cost, but it should not be confused with trade quality.

No verified liquidity winner

Some comparisons declare that DraftKings or Fanatics has better liquidity. We did not find a public, standardized, time-matched dataset that proves a universal winner.

Liquidity changes by event, venue, time and order size. Compare:

  • The same or closest rule set.
  • The best executable bid and offer, not a midpoint.
  • Available quantity at each price level.
  • Expected fill for your complete order size.
  • The likely exit quote, not only entry.
  • Trading halts and venue hours.

A platform can have more users and still offer a worse quote on one contract. Treat any broad liquidity claim without order-book evidence as marketing, not fact.

Markets, Combos and Trading Experience

Both apps focus heavily on sports while adding crypto, politics, economics and culture. DraftKings currently exposes a wider visible navigation tree. Fanatics differentiates with FanCash and RFQ-based combos. The better experience depends on whether the customer values catalog breadth, loyalty integration, price control or funding flexibility.

Market selection

Fanatics currently displays sports categories covering major leagues and less common competitions, plus crypto, politics, culture, economy and futures groupings. Its live area emphasizes fast-moving sports contracts.

DraftKings currently displays NFL, NBA, MLB, college sports, hockey, soccer, tennis, UFC, golf and other sports. Non-sports categories include crypto, elections, financial indexes, commodities, economics, culture and climate.

Visible categories do not guarantee tradable access. Location, account status, venue eligibility and market hours can remove a category or contract. Count only the markets available on the signed-in ticket where you are physically located.

Fanatics combo RFQs

Fanatics says combo pricing uses a request for quote, or RFQ. When a customer submits a combo, the exchange sends a request to liquidity providers. A provider may respond with an executable quote.

The RFQ can be useful for a combination that does not have a continuously displayed order book. It also adds uncertainty. A provider can decline to quote, the quote can expire and the final price can differ from an informal expectation.

Before accepting a Fanatics combo:

  1. Read the rule for every leg.
  2. Check what happens after a postponement, cancellation or no contest.
  3. Inspect the returned executable price and Total Trading Fee.
  4. Confirm whether and how the combo can be sold early.
  5. Consider correlation between legs.

Two 60% events do not automatically create a 36% combo when outcomes are correlated. The executable quote and complete rules control.

DraftKings combos and slippage settings

DraftKings lets customers add multiple picks to build a combo. It also describes slippage settings that can limit the highest acceptable execution price. That control is useful when live prices move quickly between opening the ticket and submitting the order.

A limit does not guarantee a fill. It defines a boundary. A combo can remain unfilled when the market moves beyond that price or sufficient size is unavailable.

DraftKings combos share the same rule complexity as Fanatics combos. Every leg can introduce a new result source, cancellation condition and deadline. Do not evaluate a combo only by its possible payout.

Live sports trading

Live event contracts create the greatest gap between a simple app and complex execution. Prices can move during a play, market data can be delayed and an exchange can halt trading. Both Fanatics and DraftKings warn that live data may be unofficial, delayed or incorrect and should not be the sole basis for a trade.

Use the official broadcast or named source when possible, but remember that the exchange can still pause execution. Never assume that a displayed position value can be realized instantly.

Rewards and promotions

FanCash can be valuable for a customer already using the Fanatics ecosystem. DraftKings can issue Predictions Dollars through eligible promotions. Neither should be treated as cash without reading the terms.

Check:

  • Whether the reward is withdrawable.
  • Which contract prices qualify.
  • Whether a minimum trade applies.
  • When the credit expires.
  • Whether profits, principal or both can be withdrawn.
  • Whether using the reward changes fee treatment.

Compare ordinary trading economics after the promotion ends. A platform that gives more promotional credit can still be more expensive for repeated trading.

Beginner experience and advanced control

Both apps are designed for consumers rather than professional futures traders. DraftKings exposes slippage controls and a broad category tree. Fanatics exposes a detailed fee estimate, live sports discovery and FanCash integration.

Neither replaces a professional multi-venue workstation. A customer who needs APIs, full depth, exports or advanced order management may prefer Interactive Brokers or a direct exchange. Readers new to contracts should start with how to trade on prediction markets.

Eligibility, States, Safety and Account Rules

Eligibility can decide the comparison before fees or features matter. Fanatics currently uses a narrower fixed list and a 21+ requirement. DraftKings publicly describes an 18+ baseline but divides locations by the kinds of markets available.

Fanatics Markets eligibility

The official Fanatics availability page showed 22 states on October 29, 2026:

Alabama, Alaska, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Maine, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas and Utah.

It also showed American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. Customers must be at least 21 and meet identity, residency and geolocation requirements.

Treat the list as a dated snapshot. Fanatics can add or remove jurisdictions. The platform warns that a customer who opens a position in a supported state may be unable to modify or sell it after traveling to an unsupported location.

DraftKings Predictions eligibility

DraftKings' public materials generally state that Predictions customers must be 18 or older, subject to current jurisdiction, identity and account rules. Its availability page divides the country into locations with all markets, financial markets only or no markets. DraftKings also says availability depends on physical location and excludes access while on tribal land.

That structure means “DraftKings is available in my state” can be incomplete. Sports contracts may be unavailable even when financial contracts appear. Check the live map and signed-in market, not a static national claim.

Registration does not remove trading risk

Both current customer-facing businesses identify an FCM role. That status defines regulated responsibilities; it does not insure a prediction against loss.

Event contracts are generally fully collateralized, but a losing position can lose the full amount committed plus fees. Customer funds, exchange clearing, operational security and investment outcome are different risk categories.

For Fanatics, read the active FCM or IB agreement and identify where funds are held. For DraftKings, read the current FCM agreement and the listing venue's rules. Neither brand should be treated as a bank guarantee.

Account security and geolocation

Use a unique password and available multi-factor authentication. Access each service through its official domain or app-store listing. Do not respond to an unsolicited support message asking for credentials or a payment transfer.

Do not use a VPN or location-spoofing tool to bypass geographic controls. It can violate account terms and make an open position harder to manage.

Before traveling, review open contracts, settlement dates and supported locations. If the position requires active management, reduce it before leaving an eligible area.

Responsible-trading controls

Both brand ecosystems describe limits, cool-offs or self-exclusion tools. Understand what happens to open contracts before activating a restriction. A control can stop new trades while leaving an existing position to settle.

If trading causes financial stress, chasing losses or interference with daily life, stop. A Yes/No interface and loyalty points do not make repeated speculative trading harmless.

Our guide to whether prediction markets are legal in the US explains why federal derivatives registration and state-level disputes can coexist.

Fanatics vs DraftKings vs Macro Markets

Fanatics and DraftKings are US consumer-brand routes into regulated event contracts. Macro Markets is a different option: a crypto-native prediction-market platform for eligible users. It should be compared on jurisdiction, custody, funding, fees, liquidity and resolution rather than forced into the same legal category.

Platform Best fit Funding orientation Legal and venue profile Main trade-off
Fanatics Markets 21+ eligible users who value FanCash, live sports and RFQ combos USD rails; ACH free and selected instant methods can cost up to 2% Current public FCM plus documented IB pathway; contracts offered through CDNA Narrower supported-jurisdiction list and multi-entity agreement history
DraftKings Predictions Eligible users who value broad sports discovery, combos, slippage settings and DKeX affiliation Separate USD Predictions wallet Current FCM; affiliated Railbird/DKeX plus supported venue access Venue and market access vary; current total fee must be checked per ticket
Macro Markets Eligible users who want crypto funding and global market discovery Digital-asset oriented, including supported crypto assets and networks Crypto-native platform; not presented as a CFTC-designated US exchange Different jurisdiction, custody, network and eligibility profile

When Fanatics is the better choice

Fanatics is the better fit when all of the following are true:

  • You are at least 21 and physically located in a supported jurisdiction.
  • FanCash has real value within your normal Fanatics activity.
  • You prefer the published price-dependent fee table.
  • ACH or another disclosed funding method fits your needs.
  • The RFQ combo workflow offers the contract you want.

The strongest Fanatics advantage is transparency around its current FCM trading and funding fee ranges. Its largest limitation is access. A good feature is irrelevant when the customer cannot trade from the current location.

When DraftKings is the better choice

DraftKings is the better fit when:

  • You are an eligible customer who is under 21 but meets the current 18+ requirements.
  • The live DraftKings catalog offers more relevant contracts in your location.
  • You value combo building and slippage settings.
  • You want an account route connected to the affiliated DKeX/Railbird exchange.
  • A separate Predictions wallet is acceptable.

Its main advantage is a broad current product surface. Its main diligence burden is identifying the listing venue and exact current total fee for the selected contract.

When Macro Markets is the better alternative

Consider Macro Markets when you are eligible for a crypto-native platform and already hold digital assets. Macro highlights a workflow built around supported assets such as BTC, ETH and SOL and global market discovery.

Crypto funding can reduce friction for some users while creating new risks for others. Verify the supported asset and network, conversion path, custody, network fee, withdrawal process, platform cost, liquidity and resolution source. Sending the right token over the wrong network can create a serious recovery problem.

Because Macro Markets publishes this comparison, treat its inclusion as a disclosed first-party claim. We apply the same questions to Macro that we apply to Fanatics and DraftKings: Who operates the platform? Who can use it? Where are funds held? What does the complete trade cost? Can the position exit? Which rule resolves it?

Macro Markets has a different legal and custody profile and is not represented here as a CFTC-designated contract market, FCM or US brokerage.

A five-step choice

  1. Check eligibility first. Age and current physical location can remove an option.
  2. Find the exact contract. Similar brands do not guarantee matching markets.
  3. Read the complete rule. Compare source, deadline and edge cases.
  4. Price the whole route. Include deposit, fee, spread, slippage and withdrawal.
  5. Test with a small amount. Confirm funding, execution, records and withdrawal before scaling.

Our prediction-market comparison methodology documents the evidence and scoring standards used for all three platforms.

Frequently Asked Questions and Final Verdict

Is Fanatics Markets better than DraftKings Predictions?

Fanatics is better for eligible 21+ customers who value FanCash, its detailed current fee table, several funding rails and RFQ combos. DraftKings is better for many users who value broader market discovery, an 18+ public baseline where allowed, slippage controls and its affiliated DKeX relationship. Compare the live contract and total cost before deciding.

Which platform has lower fees?

There is no universal winner. Fanatics publishes a current price-dependent fee from $0.00034 to $0.02 per contract bought or sold. DraftKings directs customers to its current fee disclosure and live ticket, and venue components can matter. Funding, spread and slippage can outweigh the explicit fee.

Which has better liquidity?

Neither can be declared the permanent liquidity winner from public marketing pages. Liquidity changes by contract, venue, time and quantity. Compare the same or closest contract, best bid and offer, available size and expected exit quote at the moment you plan to trade.

Are Fanatics Markets and DraftKings Predictions regulated?

Both current public sites identify their customer-facing Predictions or Markets business as a CFTC-registered FCM and NFA member. The listing exchange remains a separate role. Fanatics identifies CDNA; DraftKings can use DKeX/Railbird or another supported venue.

Is Fanatics Markets an exchange?

Not under the current public product description. Fanatics provides the account, intermediary and technology experience under the applicable agreement. CDNA is the exchange and clearing venue identified for current contracts.

Is DraftKings Predictions an exchange?

DraftKings Predictions currently presents itself as an FCM. DraftKings also owns Railbird Exchange, the designated contract market associated with DKeX. The FCM and exchange are affiliated but legally distinct roles.

Which app is available in more states?

DraftKings appears to have broader overall access, but its live map distinguishes all-market, financial-only and unavailable locations. Fanatics showed 22 states and four territories on October 29, 2026. Use current location tools because both lists and category access can change.

How old do I have to be?

Fanatics currently requires customers to be at least 21. DraftKings public Predictions materials generally state 18 or older, subject to location, identity and current account rules.

Do Fanatics and DraftKings use the sportsbook wallet?

DraftKings explicitly says Predictions has a separate wallet from Sportsbook. Fanatics can provide a more unified brand and app experience, but the Markets derivatives account and agreement still control funds and trading. Do not assume sportsbook cash or bonus value is interchangeable.

Which combo feature is better?

Fanatics' RFQ process can produce an executable combo quote from liquidity providers. DraftKings offers combo building plus slippage settings. The better tool depends on the contract and quote. Both require review of every leg, cancellation rules, correlation and early-exit conditions.

Can I sell before settlement?

Potentially, but neither platform guarantees it. An offsetting sale requires an open market, continued geographic access, sufficient demand and an acceptable price. A halt, wide spread or thin book can prevent a satisfactory exit.

What is the best alternative to both?

Kalshi can suit customers who prefer a direct dedicated US exchange account. Robinhood and Interactive Brokers can fit broader brokerage workflows. Macro Markets is the disclosed crypto-native alternative for eligible users, with a different jurisdiction, custody and funding profile.

Final verdict

The Fanatics Markets vs DraftKings Predictions decision has no honest one-word answer. DraftKings is the stronger default for many eligible users because of its visible catalog breadth, 18+ public baseline where allowed, slippage controls and affiliated DKeX relationship. Fanatics can be the better choice for 21+ users in its supported locations who value FanCash, transparent price-dependent FCM fees, multiple funding rails and RFQ combos.

Choose neither platform on brand or promotion alone. Confirm the active legal entity, listing venue, eligibility, complete fee, funding charge, executable spread, available size, settlement source and early-exit conditions. A two-cent fee advantage is meaningless if the contract has a worse price or cannot be sold.

Eligible crypto-native users should also evaluate Macro Markets, with the disclosure that Macro publishes this article. Its digital-asset funding and global discovery model can fit a different audience, but it carries distinct jurisdiction, network, custody and eligibility trade-offs and is not a CFTC-designated US exchange.

The durable choice is the platform that offers the exact contract you understand, at a competitive all-in price, through a legal and funding structure appropriate for your location.
