Fanatics Markets vs FanDuel Predicts: 2026 Comparison

Fanatics Markets vs FanDuel Predicts comparison of fees, availability, wallets and alternatives
34

Fanatics Markets and FanDuel Predicts turn two familiar sports brands into access points for exchange-listed event contracts. Both let eligible customers take Yes or No positions on sports and other real-world outcomes, but they differ in account structure, public fee disclosures, age rules, geographic reach, funding and early-exit mechanics.

Our verdict: FanDuel Predicts is the broader default for eligible users who value an 18+ public baseline, nationwide account access with state-varying markets and a simple mobile flow. Fanatics Markets is stronger for eligible users age 21 or older in its supported locations who value a detailed price-dependent fee table, more documented funding rails, FanCash and request-for-quote combo trading. Neither has a permanent liquidity advantage: depth, spread and exit quality must be checked on the exact contract.

Editorial disclosure: Macro Markets publishes this comparison and operates a prediction-market platform. We include Macro Markets as a disclosed crypto-native alternative, apply the same decision criteria and do not present it as a CFTC-designated US exchange. This is a documentation-based comparison. We did not open, fund or place matched test orders in both products for this article. Event contracts are speculative and can lose the full amount committed. Fanatics Markets vs FanDuel Predicts: Quick Verdict

Choose FanDuel Predicts if your priority is the widest public access statement, a lower published baseline age, a familiar Yes/No mobile experience and a clear path from a FanDuel identity to a separate Predicts wallet. FanDuel says Predicts is available to trade nationwide, but the markets shown vary by state and current location. That distinction matters: account access does not guarantee that a particular sports contract is tradable everywhere.

Choose Fanatics Markets if you are 21 or older, physically located in one of its listed states or territories and want more explicit public fee and funding documentation. Fanatics publishes a complete contract-price fee table, states that ACH deposits are free, identifies possible fees for selected instant funding methods and documents its wire thresholds. It also connects activity to FanCash and supports combo pricing through a request-for-quote process.

Winner by use case

  • Best for the broadest public availability statement: FanDuel Predicts.
  • Best for users under 21 who otherwise qualify: FanDuel Predicts, based on its public 18+ baseline.
  • Best for transparent public fee tables: Fanatics Markets.
  • Best for documented funding flexibility: Fanatics Markets.
  • Best for FanCash users and RFQ combos: Fanatics Markets.
  • Best for an existing FanDuel identity and simple mobile flow: FanDuel Predicts.
  • Best for crypto-native funding and global market discovery: Macro Markets for eligible users, with a different jurisdiction and risk profile.

Brand familiarity should be a secondary factor. The decisive questions are which legal entity carries the account, which exchange lists the contract, what the complete trade costs, whether the user can access it at the current physical location and how the rulebook resolves the outcome.

Our prediction-market comparison methodology explains why we score those factors before promotions or brand loyalty. For individual product detail, read the full Fanatics Markets review and FanDuel Predicts review.

How Fanatics Markets and FanDuel Predicts Are Structured

Neither product should be described simply as a sportsbook with a new type of bet. Each is an intermediary-based route into exchange-listed derivatives. The account provider, listing venue and individual contract rules are separate layers.

Fanatics Markets structure

Fanatics Markets identifies Morton St. Trading Investments LLC, doing business as Fanatics Markets, as a CFTC-registered futures commission merchant and NFA member. Its current availability page says contracts are offered through Crypto.com Derivatives North America, or CDNA. The FCM manages the customer relationship and transmits eligible orders; the exchange and clearing structure govern execution and settlement.

Fanatics also publishes introducing-broker materials for an alternate pathway in its broader documentation. That means a review must identify which agreement and entity apply to the current customer rather than treating every historical or affiliated description as interchangeable. The signed account agreement and order ticket are more authoritative than a launch announcement.

FanDuel Predicts structure

FanDuel Prediction Markets LLC identifies itself as a CFTC-registered FCM and NFA member. The current FanDuel risk disclosure at fanduel.com/predicts-riskdisclosures says the firm offers CME-listed event contracts and may support certain other CFTC-registered exchanges it joins. FanDuel therefore provides the account and interface, while the venue and contract specification determine the market rules.

The arrangement is easy to misunderstand because the FanDuel brand is more visible than the listing exchange. A user should still find the exchange, settlement source, observation time and contingency language before submitting. The familiar app does not replace the legal contract.

How Fanatics Markets and FanDuel Predicts route customer orders through an FCM to exchange rules and contract settlement

Two routes, the same verification sequence

Use the same four-step check for either product:

  1. Account: Which FCM agreement carries the cash and position?
  2. Venue: Which exchange lists and clears this exact contract?
  3. Execution: What price, fee, spread and available size apply now?
  4. Settlement: Which source, deadline and contingency rule decide the result?

This sequence prevents three common errors. First, it avoids calling the consumer app the exchange when it is acting as an FCM interface. Second, it prevents liquidity from being credited twice when multiple apps route to related underlying venues. Third, it keeps the short market title from replacing the complete settlement specification.

Prediction market, not sportsbook ticket

Traditional sportsbooks generally quote house-set odds and accept the other side of the customer's wager. Exchange-listed event contracts trade at market prices and normally settle to a defined amount such as $1 or $0. A customer may be able to sell before settlement, but only if the venue is open and a usable opposing quote exists.

Both Fanatics and FanDuel use familiar sports branding, yet their prediction products have different account records, risk disclosures and funding logic from their sportsbooks. FanDuel explicitly separates Predicts and Sportsbook balances. Fanatics integrates more of its loyalty ecosystem, but a FanCash benefit is not the same as cash in the event-contract account.

See prediction markets vs sports betting for a detailed comparison of pricing, counterparties, settlement and regulation.

Fanatics Markets vs FanDuel Predicts Fees and Funding

Fanatics provides the clearer public trading-fee schedule. FanDuel provides a clear public ceiling for cash-out fees but does not reduce every possible opening trade to one permanent public rate. That makes a universal statement such as “Fanatics is always cheaper” or “FanDuel charges exactly 2% on every transaction” too broad.

Fanatics Markets fees

The Fanatics Markets fee disclosure, effective September 2, 2026, states that the total trading fee ranges from $0.00034 to $0.02 per contract purchased or sold. Fees generally peak near the middle of the price range and fall near the extremes. The fee is calculated across the order and rounded up to the next cent, so a very small order can face a one-cent minimum even when the per-contract figure is lower.

For 100 contracts priced at $0.50, the published table shows a $2 trading fee. If those 100 contracts are later sold at a price in the $0.20-to-$0.80 band, the table can show another $2 sale fee. The actual fee follows the execution price, not a stale quote visible before the order fills.

Fanatics also states:

  • ACH deposits are free.
  • Debit card, Apple Pay, PayPal or Venmo deposits may carry a fee of up to 2%, disclosed at deposit.
  • Fanatics Markets does not charge for withdrawals to a supported payment method.
  • Wire deposits are not available below $1,000.
  • Wire withdrawals are not available below $10,000.
  • Bank wire charges can still apply.

Promotional waivers and FanCash can change a customer's perceived economics, but they should be separated from the normal fee schedule. FanCash may have expiration, eligibility or use restrictions and is not automatically equivalent to withdrawable cash.

FanDuel Predicts fees

FanDuel's cash-out support page says a cash-out value includes a transaction fee of up to $0.02 per dollar of cashout. If the gross cash-out value is $80, the published ceiling implies a fee of up to $1.60. That is a ceiling applied to the cash-out value, not proof that every entry and exit carries the maximum rate.

The correct comparison uses the signed-in order preview. Record the opening debit, any explicit transaction or venue charge, the executable spread and the net proceeds available for early exit. Promotions can temporarily change the displayed cost, so a promotional ticket should not be generalized into a permanent fee claim.

A neutral 100-contract comparison

Suppose both apps display a Yes position around $0.50 for 100 contracts. The gross premium is approximately $50 before fees.

On Fanatics, the public table shows a $2 purchase fee at $0.50. If the position is later sold in the broad middle-price band, another fee can apply. On FanDuel, the live entry ticket controls the opening economics. If the position can later be cashed out for $70 before the cash-out fee, the published ceiling would be up to $1.40 on that exit.

This example does not prove which platform is cheaper. The two apps may show different underlying contracts, venues, quotes, sizes and spreads. A two-cent better execution price across 100 contracts is worth $2, enough to offset a visible fee difference. Compare matched contract terms and net executable proceeds at the same moment.

Use this formula:

All-in cost = explicit trading fees + bid-ask spread + slippage + funding fees + early-exit fees + applicable taxes

Our prediction-market fee calculator helps model these components. The guide to the bid-ask spread explains why a low headline fee can still accompany an expensive trade.

Funding and wallet separation

Fanatics wins on public funding detail. Its disclosure names ACH, instant-payment methods and wire thresholds. That makes it easier to estimate the non-trading cost before opening an account.

FanDuel Predicts uses a balance separate from FanDuel Sportsbook. Both balances may appear in the Account Hub, but funds do not transfer directly between them and each product has its own withdrawal flow. A customer should not assume a Sportsbook balance is instantly available as Predicts buying power.

For either product, confirm deposit clearance, withdrawal eligibility and source-account restrictions. A fast deposit can cost more, and a withdrawal method can have bank-side limits even when the platform itself publishes no fee.

Markets, Trading Experience and Early Exit

Both products lead with sports familiarity and extend beyond sports. Fanatics lists categories that can include sports, politics, economics, finance, stocks, crypto, climate, technology, media and culture. FanDuel describes markets across sports, culture, financial benchmarks, crypto and economics. The visible catalog changes with location, venue support and product decisions.

Category count alone is a weak comparison. Ten contracts on the same championship question are not necessarily more useful than one liquid contract with transparent rules. Compare the exact question, source, expiry, available size and spread.

Fanatics Markets trading experience

Fanatics offers straightforward Yes/No event contracts plus combo orders. Its availability disclosure says combo pricing uses a request-for-quote process: the order is transmitted to the exchange, which sends an RFQ to liquidity providers that may respond with executable quotes.

That mechanism is important. A combo is not simply the arithmetic product of the prices displayed on its components. Correlation, quote response and venue rules can change the offered price. The customer should inspect the complete combo specification and final quote rather than treating it like a sportsbook parlay with fixed posted odds.

FanCash creates an ecosystem advantage for customers who already use Fanatics products. It can be valuable when the customer understands the terms, but it should not be counted as ordinary cash profit or used to conceal the trading fee.

FanDuel Predicts trading experience

FanDuel emphasizes a simple mobile journey: choose Yes or No, set the amount, review the possible payout and hold or cash out. Prices can be displayed as cents, a percentage or a multiplier. Changing the display does not change the position's economics.

This design reduces the learning curve for people familiar with FanDuel, but it can also make the derivatives structure feel simpler than it is. Before confirming, users should still identify the venue, maximum loss, settlement source and available exit price.

FanDuel's consumer controls are a practical strength. Public materials point to deposit limits, alerts and self-exclusion. Those tools can reduce impulsive use, though they cannot remove market, liquidity or settlement risk.

Early exit and liquidity

Fanatics users may be able to sell an open position when the venue provides a matching quote. FanDuel users may be able to cash out when liquidity supports it. In both cases, early exit is another market transaction, not a guaranteed refund.

An app can show a rising indicative value while the actual sell quote is lower. A halted, closed or thin market may provide no usable exit. A customer who expects to need the cash before resolution should treat this uncertainty as a major product constraint.

We do not name a universal liquidity winner because a defensible test would require:

  • the same economic event and settlement definition;
  • observations taken at the same time;
  • the same order size and side;
  • visible executable bids and asks rather than a displayed midpoint;
  • repeated samples across major and niche contracts.

Without that evidence, customer-base size, exchange reputation and promotional volume are only proxies. Liquidity belongs to the contract at a moment in time, not permanently to the app logo.

Our guide to how to trade prediction markets provides a pre-order checklist for price, size, rules and settlement.

Eligibility, Availability, Safety and Account Rules

FanDuel has the reach advantage in public messaging. Its product page at fanduel.com/predicts says Predicts is available to trade nationwide while markets vary by state. Fanatics publishes a narrower, explicit list: 22 states and 4 US territories as of October 29, 2026.

Fanatics' listed states are Alabama, Alaska, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Maine, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas and Utah. The listed territories are American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.

That snapshot can change. More importantly, availability follows physical location, not only residence. Fanatics warns that a customer who opens a position in a supported jurisdiction may be unable to modify or close it after traveling to an unsupported one. FanDuel likewise changes the product and markets visible based on location.

Age and onboarding

Fanatics Markets states a 21+ requirement. FanDuel Predicts publishes an 18+ baseline. Neither age statement guarantees approval. Identity, residence, geolocation, sanctions, account history and jurisdiction-specific rules can affect eligibility.

Onboarding can require legal name, date of birth, address, Social Security number, government-issued identification and banking information. These checks are part of the regulated account process, but registration does not insure a trading position or promise that a customer will be allowed to trade every contract.

Safety means more than registration

Both current account providers identify as registered FCMs and NFA members. That answers an important entity question, but it does not eliminate:

  • Market risk: the selected outcome can be wrong and the position can lose its full premium.
  • Liquidity risk: an exit may be expensive or unavailable.
  • Settlement risk: a named data source may be delayed, revised or covered by a contingency rule.
  • Operational risk: access can fail or geolocation can restrict account actions.
  • Legal risk: sports event contracts remain subject to active state and federal disputes.
  • Security risk: credential theft or a compromised device can expose the account.

Use a unique password, enable available multifactor controls and confirm withdrawal destinations. Never fund either account with money needed for rent, debt payments, taxes or emergencies.

Contract rules control settlement

The short title is not the contract. Read the source, deadline, time zone, cancellation language, correction process and treatment of postponements. Two markets that look identical in a search result can settle differently because they use different sources or observation windows.

Our guide to whether prediction markets are legal in the US explains why federal registration, state challenges and individual eligibility are distinct questions.

Fanatics vs FanDuel vs Macro Markets

Macro Markets offers a different route: a crypto-native prediction platform for eligible users who value crypto funding and global market discovery. That difference may be useful, but it also changes jurisdiction, custody, funding, network and regulatory risks. Macro is not represented here as a CFTC-designated US exchange.

Platform Structure Best fit Cost check Main trade-off
Fanatics Markets Registered FCM offering contracts through supported exchange infrastructure, currently naming CDNA Eligible 21+ users who value public fee detail, funding choice, FanCash and RFQ combos Contract-price trading fee, spread, funding method and any exit cost Limited published geographic footprint; rewards are not cash; account pathway must be verified
FanDuel Predicts Registered FCM offering CME-listed and other supported registered-exchange contracts Eligible users who value broad public reach, an 18+ baseline and a simple FanDuel-style flow Live entry ticket, spread and cash-out fee if exiting early Market access varies by state; separate Sportsbook wallet; less complete public entry-fee table
Macro Markets Crypto-native prediction-market platform; not presented as a CFTC-designated US exchange Eligible users prioritizing crypto funding and global market discovery Current platform, network, execution and withdrawal costs Different jurisdiction, custody, funding and regulatory profile

Choose Fanatics Markets when its supported geography, 21+ rule and current agreement fit you, and when detailed public fees and funding rails matter more than the broadest reach. The product is especially relevant to Fanatics ONE customers who understand how FanCash differs from withdrawable proceeds.

Choose FanDuel Predicts when you qualify under its current location rules and want a familiar consumer interface, the public 18+ baseline or broader account availability. Keep the Predicts wallet separate in your mental accounting and verify the market-specific venue and cash-out economics.

Consider Macro Markets when you are eligible for a crypto-native product and deliberately prefer crypto funding plus global discovery. Because Macro publishes this comparison, treat this as a disclosed first-party description. Independently verify current eligibility, custody, collateral, fees, liquidity, resolution and withdrawal conditions before using the platform.

The comparison is not a claim that one legal structure is universally better. A US FCM route and a crypto-native platform solve different access and funding problems. The correct choice depends on the user's jurisdiction, risk tolerance, preferred assets and the exact market available.

Frequently Asked Questions and Final Verdict

Is Fanatics Markets better than FanDuel Predicts?

Fanatics is better for eligible 21+ users who value a detailed public fee table, documented funding choices, FanCash and RFQ combos. FanDuel is better for eligible users who value an 18+ public baseline, broader public availability and a simple mobile experience. Compare the exact contract and live price before deciding.

Which app is available in more states?

FanDuel says Predicts is available to trade nationwide, while individual markets vary by state. Fanatics listed 22 states and four territories on October 29, 2026. Product access is based on current physical location, and neither statement guarantees access to every contract.

Which platform has lower fees?

There is no universal winner without a matched quote. Fanatics publishes trading fees from $0.00034 to $0.02 per contract bought or sold. FanDuel publishes a cash-out fee ceiling of $0.02 per dollar cashed out, while the live ticket controls the complete transaction economics. Spread, slippage and funding costs can reverse a headline-fee comparison.

Which platform has better liquidity?

No permanent winner can be supported without simultaneous, matched order-book evidence. Liquidity varies by contract, venue, time, price and order size. Compare executable bids and asks for the exact market rather than relying on brand size or promotional claims.

Are Fanatics Markets and FanDuel Predicts sportsbooks?

No. Their prediction products provide access to exchange-listed event contracts through registered FCMs. Their affiliated sportsbooks use a different wagering model, legal framework, wallet and rule set.

Do Fanatics and FanDuel use the same exchange?

Their public materials name different primary relationships. Fanatics currently says contracts are offered through Crypto.com Derivatives North America. FanDuel identifies CME-listed contracts and allows for other supported registered exchanges. Always inspect the specific ticket because supported venues can evolve.

Can I use my sportsbook balance?

Do not assume so. FanDuel explicitly uses separate Predicts and Sportsbook wallets with no direct transfer. Fanatics integrates its loyalty ecosystem, but FanCash and sportsbook funds are not automatically equivalent to cash buying power in the event-contract account.

Can I exit before settlement?

Sometimes. Fanatics may allow a sale when a usable opposing quote exists. FanDuel may offer cash out when liquidity permits, with a transaction fee included in the displayed value. Early exit can be unavailable during thin trading, a halt or after a location change.

Is Fanatics Markets available to users under 21?

Fanatics publishes a 21+ rule. FanDuel publishes an 18+ baseline, subject to current jurisdiction, identity and account checks. The onboarding decision and current product terms control.

What is the best crypto-native alternative?

Macro Markets is the crypto-native alternative included in this comparison for eligible users. It offers a different funding and market-discovery profile, but also a different jurisdiction, custody and regulatory risk profile. Macro Markets publishes this article and is not presented as a CFTC-designated US exchange.

Final verdict

FanDuel Predicts wins on broader public reach, lower baseline age and consumer simplicity. Fanatics Markets wins on the detail of its public fee and funding disclosures, FanCash integration and documented RFQ combo mechanics. Those advantages are meaningful only when the user is eligible and the desired contract is actually available.

The final Fanatics Markets vs FanDuel Predicts choice should be made at the order ticket. Compare the account entity, listing venue, settlement rule, executable price, explicit fee, spread, available size, funding cost and exit path. If one platform offers the right contract with a materially better net quote, that can outweigh brand preference.
