DraftKings Predictions vs FanDuel Predicts: 2026 Comparison

DraftKings Predictions versus FanDuel Predicts fees, structure, wallets and alternatives
30

DraftKings Predictions and FanDuel Predicts put exchange-traded event contracts behind two of the most familiar names in US sports. Both let eligible customers take Yes or No positions on sports and real-world outcomes, but the products differ in their public fee language, venue relationships, app experience, wallet rules and early-exit mechanics.

Our verdict: DraftKings Predictions is the stronger default for eligible users who want a broad visible catalog, combo building and more explicit public language about buy-and-sell transaction fees. FanDuel Predicts is stronger for eligible users who value a unified FanDuel identity, simple price displays, clearly documented wallet separation and a published cash-out fee ceiling. Neither is the universal winner on total cost or liquidity: those depend on the exact contract, executable quote, order size and exit path.

Editorial disclosure: Macro Markets publishes this comparison and operates a prediction-market platform. We include Macro Markets as a disclosed crypto-native alternative, apply the same decision criteria and do not present it as a CFTC-designated US exchange. This is a documentation-based comparison; we did not open, fund and place matched orders in both products for this article. Event contracts are speculative and can lose the full amount committed. DraftKings Predictions vs FanDuel Predicts: Quick Verdict

Choose DraftKings Predictions if you want a dedicated Predictions experience with a broad public menu spanning major sports, crypto, finance, politics and other events. Its current interface supports single-market positions and combo building, and its promotional terms publish a one-cent DraftKings transaction fee for each event contract bought or sold, plus a separate exchange fee. The signed-in fee disclosure and order ticket still control the actual trade.

Choose FanDuel Predicts if you prefer one recognizable FanDuel identity that changes the available product based on location, straightforward cents, percentage and multiplier displays, and a clearly documented cash-out flow. FanDuel says Predicts is available to trade nationwide, but the markets shown vary by state. That is not the same as saying every sports contract is available everywhere.

Brand loyalty is a poor substitute for comparing the order ticket. The important questions are which entity carries the account, which exchange lists the contract, whether the exact market is available at the user's physical location, what the executable spread and fees are, and which rule decides settlement.

Our prediction-market comparison methodology explains why we score those factors before bonuses or familiarity. For individual product detail, read the complete DraftKings Predictions review and FanDuel Predicts review.

How DraftKings Predictions and FanDuel Predicts Are Structured

Neither product is simply a sportsbook ticket with a different label. Event contracts are exchange-traded derivatives. The consumer app, customer-account intermediary, listing exchange and settlement rule are distinct layers even when the same brand appears across several of them.

DraftKings Predictions structure

DraftKings' current Predictions home and settings pages describe DraftKings Predictions as a CFTC-registered futures commission merchant and NFA member. The current promotion terms at draftkings.com/predictions-terms, however, describe it as a CFTC-registered introducing broker and NFA member. That inconsistency matters because an FCM can carry customer accounts, while an introducing broker normally solicits or accepts orders that are carried by an FCM.

We do not silently choose one label. The safest approach is to inspect the current customer agreement, account statement and order ticket that apply when the account is opened. Public website copy can lag a legal or operational change.

DraftKings acquired Railbird Exchange, now associated with DKeX branding. The CFTC's Railbird record lists the venue as a designated contract market, and an April 2026 amended designation addressed FCM-intermediated customer trading. An affiliated exchange relationship can help DraftKings shape product integration, but it does not mean every DraftKings contract has the same rules, depth or fee. The ticket and venue specification remain decisive.

FanDuel Predicts structure

FanDuel Prediction Markets LLC identifies itself as a CFTC-registered FCM and NFA member. FanDuel's June 2026 risk disclosure at fanduel.com/predicts-riskdisclosures says the firm offers contracts listed on CME and certain other CFTC-registered exchanges it may join. The product page describes FanDuel Predicts as the app of a FanDuel Group and CME Group joint venture.

FanDuel therefore supplies the customer relationship and interface, while the supported exchange lists the contract and its rules determine settlement. A familiar logo does not turn the app itself into the exchange, nor does it make the short market title the complete legal specification.

How DraftKings Predictions and FanDuel Predicts connect customer orders to intermediary, exchange and settlement layers

Four checks before every trade

Use the same sequence on both platforms:

  1. Account: Which entity carries or introduces this customer account under the current agreement?
  2. Venue: Which exchange lists the exact contract shown in the ticket?
  3. Execution: What price, explicit fee, spread and available size apply now?
  4. Settlement: Which source, observation time and contingency rule decide the result?

This sequence prevents common comparison errors. It avoids calling a branded app the exchange, keeps an affiliated venue from being confused with every possible venue, and stops an attractive one-line question from replacing the complete settlement terms.

Event contracts versus sportsbook wagers

A traditional sportsbook generally posts house-set odds and acts as the counterparty to accepted wagers. An exchange-listed event contract trades at a market price and usually settles to $1 for the correct side or $0 for the incorrect side. The price can change as participants update their expectations.

Both companies intentionally make the experience approachable to sports users, but the prediction-market account, balance, tax treatment, regulatory framework and rules are distinct from the sportsbook. Both platforms document separate product wallets. See prediction markets vs sports betting for a deeper explanation of pricing, counterparties and settlement.

DraftKings Predictions vs FanDuel Predicts Fees and Funding

The two companies describe costs using different units. DraftKings' public promotion terms state a per-contract transaction charge and mention a separate exchange fee. FanDuel publishes a cash-out fee ceiling based on the dollar value cashed out. Comparing “one cent” with “two cents” without recognizing those different denominators produces a misleading winner.

DraftKings Predictions fees

DraftKings' promotion terms, accessed October 29, 2026, state that DraftKings Predictions charges $0.01 for each event contract bought or sold and that the exchange offering the contract charges a separate exchange fee. The page points customers to the signed-in fee disclosure for the current schedules.

At that published DraftKings rate, buying 100 contracts would create a $1 DraftKings transaction fee before the exchange charge. Selling the 100 contracts before resolution would create another $1 DraftKings fee, again before any exchange fee. The contract price itself and the bid-ask spread are additional economic costs.

That example is not a promise that every order will use that exact schedule. The cited terms apply to a promotion and can change. The current fee document, supported venue, contract and final confirmation screen control. A user should save or screenshot the reviewed economics before submitting a material order.

FanDuel Predicts fees

FanDuel's cash-out support page says the displayed cash-out value includes a transaction fee of up to $0.02 per dollar cashed out. If an open position has an $80 gross cash-out value, the stated ceiling implies up to $1.60 on that exit.

This is not proof that every FanDuel entry and exit costs 2%. It describes the maximum included in the early cash-out value. The signed-in entry ticket and current disclosure are needed to establish the complete opening cost. Promotions, product changes and venue charges can affect what a particular customer sees.

A neutral 100-contract example

Assume both platforms show economically equivalent Yes contracts around $0.50, and the customer wants 100 contracts. The gross premium is approximately $50 before fees.

Under the DraftKings promotional language, the platform transaction fee would be $1 to buy, plus the applicable exchange fee. If those contracts were later sold, a second $1 DraftKings fee and another applicable exchange fee could apply. Under FanDuel, the live opening ticket determines entry economics. If the position later has a $70 gross cash-out value, the public ceiling would imply up to $1.40 included in the cash-out value.

This still does not identify the cheaper platform. If one executable ask is $0.48 and the other is $0.51, the three-cent price difference equals $3 across 100 contracts. A tighter spread or lower slippage can outweigh the visible fee. The contracts may also have different settlement sources or expiry times, making them economically nonidentical.

Use this formula:

All-in cost = explicit transaction fees + exchange fees + bid-ask spread + slippage + funding fees + early-exit costs + applicable taxes

Our prediction-market fee calculator helps model these components. The guide to the bid-ask spread explains why a low headline charge can accompany expensive execution.

Funding and separate wallets

DraftKings says Predictions uses a separate wallet and does not share funds with Sportsbook or other DraftKings products. Customers must deposit into the Predictions wallet before trading. That separation helps keep event-contract activity distinct but prevents users from assuming sportsbook cash is immediately available.

FanDuel also documents separate Sportsbook and Predicts wallets. Both balances can appear in the Account Hub, but funds do not transfer between them; each balance has its own withdrawal path. FanDuel says withdrawal methods vary with product, location and prior deposit method, and US credit cards are not accepted for Predicts deposits.

Neither brand relationship removes payment risk. Confirm whether a deposit is immediately tradable, whether it can be withdrawn before settlement, what bank or processor limits apply, and whether a refund must return to the original source. A fast deposit method can be less useful if it creates fees or a longer withdrawal review.

Markets, Combos, Trading Experience and Early Exit

DraftKings and FanDuel both emphasize sports and extend into real-world event categories. DraftKings publicly displays sports, crypto, politics and financial markets. FanDuel describes sports, culture, financial, crypto and economic contracts. The catalog a user actually sees depends on location, exchange support and product decisions.

Counting category labels is not enough. A large menu can contain duplicated questions, shallow books or markets with unsuitable rules. A smaller list can be more useful if the desired contract has a narrow spread, sufficient size and a clear settlement source.

DraftKings Predictions experience

DraftKings uses a dedicated Predictions interface with Yes/No positions, a trade slip and the ability to add multiple picks to a combo. The public page says users can buy more, sell or hold until settlement. It also lets users display probability-style percentages or multipliers, while the detailed ticket controls the actual order.

Combo building is a meaningful discovery advantage for users who want linked outcomes, but it introduces more complexity. The final combination price is not simply a promise based on the displayed component probabilities. Correlation, venue rules, quote availability and fees matter. Read the combined contract terms rather than treating it as an ordinary sportsbook parlay.

DraftKings also states that an executed trade cannot be canceled, voided or rescinded. A customer may have the option to sell before the market closes, but that depends on a current executable market. The inability to undo an accidental fill makes the confirmation screen and order-size review especially important.

FanDuel Predicts experience

FanDuel emphasizes a streamlined mobile sequence: choose Yes or No, select the amount, review the payout, then hold or cash out. Prices can appear as cents, percentages or multipliers. Changing the display format does not change the underlying contract economics.

The advantage is familiarity. The risk is that a simple interface can make a derivative contract feel easier than it is. Before confirming, find the maximum loss, listing venue, settlement source, observation time and the actual price available for the chosen size.

FanDuel also publishes consumer controls and responsible-trading resources. Limits, alerts and self-exclusion tools are valuable, but they cannot remove market loss, a poor fill or a settlement dispute.

Early exit and liquidity

DraftKings may let a customer sell an open contract before the market closes at the current market price. FanDuel may provide cash out when market liquidity supports it. Both are new transactions against available liquidity, not guaranteed refunds.

A position can show a higher indicative value while the executable bid is lower. A thin, halted or closed market can offer no usable exit. FanDuel explicitly warns that cash out may not always be available and that its value can move before submission. DraftKings' ability to sell carries the same practical dependency on a matching market.

We do not name a universal liquidity winner because a defensible test would require:

  • the same economic event and settlement definition;
  • observations at the same moment;
  • the same side and order size;
  • executable bids and asks rather than an indicative midpoint;
  • repeated samples across major and niche contracts.

Without that evidence, customer counts, brand reach and exchange affiliation are only proxies. Liquidity belongs to a specific contract at a specific moment. Our guide to how to trade prediction markets provides a practical pre-order checklist.

Eligibility, Availability, Safety and Account Rules

Both products market broad US access and publish an 18+ baseline, but neither promises that every user can trade every category in every location. DraftKings says Predictions is live nationwide while its availability map distinguishes all markets, financial-only access, sports restrictions and no-market locations. It also says access is unavailable while physically located on tribal land.

FanDuel says Predicts is available to trade nationwide while the markets offered vary by state. FanDuel's app can show Sportsbook in some states and Predicts in others. A user near a state border may therefore see a different product or catalog after the location check.

Physical location matters more than residence alone. Traveling after opening a position can restrict the ability to add, sell or cash out. Anyone who may cross state lines before settlement should understand how the platform handles an open position from an unsupported location.

Age, identity and onboarding

DraftKings says eligible customers must be at least 18, have a verified DraftKings account, complete identity verification and be physically located where Predictions is available. FanDuel publishes an 18+ baseline and applies its own location, identity and account checks.

The public age minimum is not approval. Onboarding can involve legal name, date of birth, address, Social Security number, government identification, sanctions checks, geolocation and payment ownership. Employment restrictions, self-exclusion and account history can also affect access.

What regulation does and does not prove

Current DraftKings pages and FanDuel materials identify CFTC/NFA-regulated intermediaries, while Railbird and CME relationships connect the products to designated exchanges. That is relevant evidence about entity oversight and contract structure. It is not insurance against trading loss and does not mean federal and state legal questions are settled for every sports contract.

Registration does not eliminate:

  • Market risk: the selected outcome can be wrong and lose the full amount committed.
  • Liquidity risk: an early exit can be expensive or unavailable.
  • Settlement risk: an official source can be delayed, corrected or covered by a contingency rule.
  • Operational risk: the app, venue or geolocation provider can fail.
  • Legal risk: sports event contracts remain subject to active policy and court disputes.
  • Security risk: compromised credentials or devices can expose funds.

Use a unique password and available multifactor controls. Set a hard loss limit before funding. Never use money needed for rent, debt, taxes or emergencies.

Contract rules decide the result

Read the source, deadline, time zone, postponement language, correction policy and treatment of ambiguous outcomes. Two questions that look identical can settle differently because one uses a league record at final whistle and another uses a named data provider after corrections.

Our guide to whether prediction markets are legal in the US separates federal market oversight, state challenges and individual eligibility.

DraftKings vs FanDuel vs Macro Markets

Macro Markets offers a different route: a crypto-native prediction platform for eligible users who value crypto funding and global market discovery. That distinction can be useful, but it changes the jurisdiction, custody, collateral, network and regulatory risk profile. Macro Markets is not represented here as a CFTC-designated US exchange.

Platform Structure Best fit Cost check Main trade-off
DraftKings Predictions Current public pages describe a registered FCM; promotional terms describe an introducing broker; contracts route to supported exchange infrastructure Eligible users wanting broad categories, combos and a separate DraftKings Predictions wallet Current transaction fee, exchange fee, spread, slippage and exit cost Public entity labels are inconsistent; availability and venue can vary
FanDuel Predicts Registered FCM offering CME-listed and other supported registered-exchange contracts Eligible users wanting a familiar FanDuel identity, simple price displays and documented cash out Live entry ticket, spread and cash-out fee if exiting early State-specific market access; separate Sportsbook wallet; entry fee less fully summarized publicly
Macro Markets Crypto-native prediction-market platform; not presented as a CFTC-designated US exchange Eligible users prioritizing crypto funding and global market discovery Current platform, network, execution and withdrawal costs Different jurisdiction, custody, funding and regulatory profile

Choose DraftKings Predictions when its current agreement and location rules fit you, and when category breadth, combo discovery and a dedicated prediction interface matter most. Verify whether the account document identifies an FCM or introducing-broker pathway and which exchange lists the particular contract.

Choose FanDuel Predicts when you qualify under its current rules and prefer the FanDuel account flow, clear wallet separation, flexible display formats or its documented cash-out mechanics. Do not infer that a nationwide availability statement guarantees sports contracts in the current state.

Consider Macro Markets when you are eligible for a crypto-native product and deliberately prefer crypto funding plus global discovery. Because Macro publishes this comparison, treat this as a disclosed first-party description. Independently verify current eligibility, custody, collateral, fees, liquidity, resolution and withdrawals before using the platform.

The point is not that one legal structure is universally superior. A US regulated intermediary route and a crypto-native product solve different access and funding problems. The best fit depends on jurisdiction, desired market, risk tolerance and preferred asset rails.

Frequently Asked Questions and Final Verdict

Is DraftKings Predictions better than FanDuel Predicts?

DraftKings is better for eligible users who value a broad visible catalog, combo building and explicit public buy/sell transaction-fee language. FanDuel is better for users who value consistent entity disclosure, a familiar unified identity and clear cash-out and wallet documentation. The exact contract and net executable quote can reverse either default.

Which product is available in more states?

Both make nationwide-style availability statements, but both vary access by physical location. DraftKings distinguishes all-market, financial-only, restricted and unavailable areas. FanDuel says Predicts is available nationwide while individual markets vary by state. Compare the exact contract after the current location check.

Which platform has lower fees?

There is no universal winner from the public rates alone. DraftKings' current promotional terms state a one-cent transaction fee per contract bought or sold plus a separate exchange fee. FanDuel says cash-out value includes up to two cents per dollar cashed out. Spread, slippage, price, order size and entry charges must be included.

Which platform has better liquidity?

No permanent winner can be supported without simultaneous matched-book evidence. Liquidity varies by contract, venue, time, price and order size. Compare the executable bid, ask and available quantity for the same economic question.

Are DraftKings Predictions and FanDuel Predicts sportsbooks?

No. The prediction products provide access to exchange-listed event contracts through regulated market infrastructure. Their affiliated sportsbooks use a different wagering model, legal framework, wallet and rule set.

Do DraftKings and FanDuel use the same exchange?

Do not assume so. DraftKings has an affiliated relationship with Railbird/DKeX and can support applicable exchange routes. FanDuel's disclosure names CME and allows for other registered exchanges it may join. The order ticket and contract rule identify the venue that matters.

Why does DraftKings call itself both an FCM and an introducing broker?

Its current Predictions product pages say CFTC-registered FCM, while current promotion terms say CFTC-registered introducing broker. Those are distinct regulatory roles. Users should rely on the current signed customer agreement, account statement and ticket, and DraftKings should clarify the public inconsistency.

Can I use my sportsbook balance?

Do not assume so. DraftKings says Predictions has a separate wallet from Sportsbook and its other products. FanDuel also tracks Predicts and Sportsbook funds independently and does not transfer funds directly between those wallets.

Can I exit before settlement?

Sometimes. DraftKings may allow a sale before close at an executable market price. FanDuel may offer cash out when liquidity permits and includes the applicable fee in the displayed value. Neither route guarantees that a usable exit will exist.

What is the best crypto-native alternative?

Macro Markets is the disclosed crypto-native alternative included here for eligible users. It offers a different funding and discovery profile, along with different jurisdiction, custody and regulatory risks. Macro publishes this article and is not presented as a CFTC-designated US exchange.

Final verdict

DraftKings Predictions wins on its broad visible catalog, combo discovery and clearer public buy/sell transaction-fee language. FanDuel Predicts wins on consistent public FCM disclosure, familiar account presentation and detailed wallet and cash-out documentation. Neither wins automatically on total cost, liquidity or settlement quality.

Make the final DraftKings Predictions vs FanDuel Predicts decision at the order ticket. Match the economic question, venue, rule, expiry, order size and observation time. Then compare the explicit fee, exchange charge, spread, available depth and net early-exit proceeds. A materially better executable quote is more important than brand preference.
